The Fabrication of Gold–Silver Bimetallic Colloids by Microplasma: A Worthwhile Strategy for Counteracting the Surface Activity of Avian Influenza Virus

In the present project, fructose-stabilized gold, silver and gold–silver bimetallic colloids have been synthesized by electrochemical reduction of HAuCl4·3H2O (Au precursor) AgNO3 (Ag precursor), employing atmospheric pressure microplasma technique. X-Ray Diffraction patterns particles exhibit (111), (200) (220) planes identical to gold NPs depicting FCC structures. The decrease in peak intensities Au–Ag (111) as compared those Au is due formation alloys. FE-SEM image has revealed an adequate change morphology NPs. majority are spherical uniformly dispersed. EDS spectra (Au–Ag) confirm presence metallic silver. appearance a single Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) UV–VIS absorption its position between SPR peaks justify alloy particles. DLS measurements, size distribution carries narrow range 55 117 nm colloids. compatibility sizes these influenza virus belonging Orthomyxoviruses family (size 80–300 with different morphologies) assumed stand responsible for effective bio-conjunction Influenza viruses. nanostructures synergistically improved their antiviral activity against H9N2 monometallic AuNPs AgNPs. Thus, nanostructured alliance proven be more capable manifesting high efficacy.
